The role of the Symantec Endpoint Consultant involves a mixture of many skills, from solutions design and delivery, to trusted client advisor.
Typical Responsibilities (Not all-inclusive):
- Lead large/complex SEP and/or NAC consulting services engagements, including strategy and solution design
- Work closely with Symantec’s Technical Support to identify and resolve issues and to mitigate customer impact during the engagement
- Proficient on the architecture, design and deployment of the SEP and/or NAC solutions
- Maintain a high level technical expertise with Symantec products and solutions
- Identify and resolve engagement issues
- Sharing best practices throughout the organization
- Contribute to the identification of new consulting services offerings
- Participate in the development and rollout of new offerings
- Use professional concepts to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways
- Work on complex problems in a complex environment where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables
- Gather requirements, troubleshoot, debug, document, and deliver across a broad range of products and platforms quickly and accurately
- Assume leadership on the engagement and work without direct supervision, interfacing with customer IT and business-function leaders
- Designs pilot and production architecture given success criteria
- Defines and creates SEP client security policy
- Builds deployment packages
- Executes pilot against success criteria
- Completes production deployment
- Advises client on application of endpoint packages deployment, including but not limited to Native SEP , SMS , and Altiris
- Through discussions and demonstration, provide periodic informal on-site knowledge transfer, as needed to designated Client employees covering the management, normal operation, and maintenance of the SEP and NAC infrastructure
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
- BSCS/BSEE or equivalent work experience
- Excellent problem solving, presentation, and oral skills
- 3+ years in IT management within enterprise environment of at least 5000 desktop/client machines required
- 3+ years exp. with MS applications including MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SQL required
- Desktop service support and/or administration; Desktop configuration and patch management; Complex change and/or release management cycles; Security or vulnerability assessments; Disaster recovery or business continuity planning required. Has thorough understanding of technical concepts required for specialized field
- Team player - part of a multi-product design and implementation team
- Enjoys fast paced environment with hard deadlines that may require multi-tasking
- Willing to travel up to 60% of the time
- Thorough understanding of information security practices
- Thorough understanding of policies and how they impact the end user
- DoD Clearance a plus.
Technical Skills:
- A working knowledge of Standard client platform administration, configuration, rights management and file access with one or more of the following: Windows (e.g. Win 9x, NT, 2000, XP); Unix (e.g. Solaris, HP-UX, AIX); Linux (e.g Red Hat, SuSe, United Linux); or Macintosh is required
- A working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL query languages TCP/IP networks, including DHCP, DNS, and WINS is required.
- A working knowledge of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, subnets, V-LAN, Ethernet, Cisco Switch IOS, VLANs and 802.1x technology is required
- A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
- 2+ years experience Microsoft Windows NT Domains, Windows 2000 Active Directory and/or Novell eDirectory is required
- Working knowledge of scripting tools, such as Windows Scripting Host, KIXTART, PERL, WISE and the like preferred
- Working knowledge of enterprise application architectures preferred
- Exposure to Virtual Machine Technologies (VMWare)
- Knowledge of RADIUS Authentication Methods
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years experience with Windows OS Platforms XP, 2000/2003 Server, Unix/Linux
- 4+ years experience with networks and complex installations
- 2+ years prior industry experience including anti-virus solutions, firewall solutions, network access control solutions and security solutions
- 1+ years of prior experience with other management products such as Altiris CMS & AMS products, LANDesk, Microsoft SMS or SCCM, BigFix, Opsware, etc.
- Existing Symantec certifications are a plus.
- 1+ years usability and cost justification (expected improvement for the planned implementation), workflow optimization, Process optimization, ITIL certification or similar
- CISSP certification or requisite demonstrable experience preferred
Other Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License – Required
- Passport or other documentation allowing international travel – Preferred
- ITIL certification - Preferred
